Submitting an Appeal to the Marketplace
Did your insurance get canceled prematurely? Did the coverage not start at all?
Margo had a baby towards the end of the year and went into labor and delivery on November 25th. She didn't have her baby until the next day, November 26th. Margo had decided to have health insurance through the Aetna marketplace. When her health insurance agent added her new baby to her plan, Aetna said "no problem, we will get on this" however, when the hospital billed Aetna, they said that neither Margo or the baby had coverage through them. After several calls to both the health insurance marketplace and Aetna, Margo had to submit an appeal to get her hospital stay covered for both her and her baby. Her health insurance agent helped her through the tedious process.
